Drop Dogs's biography | Argentina
Biography
Drop Dogs is an original music and free improvisation project that was born in 2010
from the friendship and musical affinity between Rodrigo Domínguez (clarinet) and
Hernán Hecht (later). Later on, Mark Helias (double bass) joined the band for a tour in
Mexico. As a trio, Drop Dogs has performed at diverse Mexican jazz festivals in Morelia
and Zacatecas and at various jazz clubs all across Mexico. In 2011, the trio was invited
to repeat the tour, which resulted in the recording of their first album, Drop Dogs, to
be released soon in Argentina on S’Jazz. This first studio album features some pieces
by Mark Helias – including one specially written for the trio – and some by Rodrigo
Domínguez, in addition to a free improvisation. They will play the material from this
record in this edition of the BAJ. For next year, the trio has already scheduled a new tour
in Mexico that will extend to the United States and countries in Europe.
