Biography
Guitarist Ramiro Penovi was born in Necochea, province of Buenos Aires, in 1978. In 1997, he settled in Buenos Aires and studied with Walter Malosetti, Armando Alonso, Marcos González and Pedro González. He has played and recorded with Walter Malosetti, Fats Fernández, Sergio Mihanovich, Adrián Iaies, Pepi Taveira and Enrique Norris, among others. He collaborated with the Satch Big Band in a workshop offered by Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. At this year’s BAJ, he will perform with The Swing Serenaders, made up of Pepi Taveira (drums), Mariano Loiácono (trumpet) and Jerónimo Carmona (double bass).
