DIEGO Y CHIZUKO, CAMPEONES MUNDIALES DE “TANGO ESCENARIO”

The Argentine-Japanese couple, formed by Diego Ortega and Chizuko Kuwamoto (Colón, Argentina) was proclaimed- this Tuesday evening- 2010 world champion in the category “Stage Tango”, at the Luna Park stadium. The fever pitch of Tango Buenos Aires’ closing was, precisely, when the Minister of Culture Hernán Lombardi –together with the legends Juan Carlos Copes and María Nieves – got on the stage to hand in the prize to the new world champions. The first runners-up were the couple of Cristian Correo-Manuela Rossi (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and the second runners-up were Cristián Andres Lopez-Naoko Tsutsumizaki (Tokyo, Japan).

The third runners-up were Leonardo Luizaga- Paola Giselle Luizaga (Zárate, Argentina). And the fourth runners-up were Eber Alejandro Burger- Yesica Lorena Lozano Elias (Lanús, Argentina). The award for most elegant couple – according to the audience vote- went to the couple from Mendoza formed by Javier Oscar Jofre- Paola Susana Valdivia. Tango Buenos Aires’ last evening had a great show in the competence and concerts, in front of a packed Luna Park that rewarded the winning artists – and of course the rest of the contestants – with a great ovation. The homage to the great María Nieves, and Susana Rinaldi’s performance – along with Osvaldo Piro’s orchestra- gave an extra touch of quality and emotion to the closing of this great world tango encounter.
