Roxana Amed's biography

Roxana Amed

This Argentine singer and composer, widely renowned in the local jazz scene for her virtuoso vocal performance, brought a renewed sound to the genre and a sophisticated poetry to its lyrics.
She was granted a Martín Fierro Award for her work as a composer (2001) and nominated for the Clarín Award for Best Jazz Newcomer (2003). She released two albums, Limbo (2004), winner of the Gardel Award for Best Engineered Album, and Entremundos (2006), nominated for the Gardel Award for Best Testimonial Song Album and Best Engineered Album, both in co-production with remarkable Argentine musician Pedro Aznar (ex Pat Metheny Group).
In 2009 she produced her DVD La voz más allá, recorded live in 5.1. Her productions boast the collaboration of giants of the jazz and popular scenes, and have earned her the praise of the critics, her fellow musicians and the audience.

With an education in the lyrical technique –she was taught by Lucía Boero and Laura Saccente– she has performed the most varied genres and musical formats and in the past years has offered clinics to singers and singing advice to several artists. Back from her first performances in Europe, she is working on her next album. As an author, Amed works exclusively for Sony ATV Music Publishing and her productions are released by RCA/Sony Music.
She appeared with her quartet at Buenos Aires Jazz 08 and in this edition of the Festival she will be conducting a workshop for singers (“La voz que recorre el jazz”) aimed at exploring the roots of the jazz sound in the voice and its transformations throughout the last decades.
