Luis Agudo's biography
The percussionist Luis Agudo was born in La Plata in 1940. He played with Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Luther Allison, Philly Jo Jones, Steve Grossman, Glen Ferris, Robin Kenyatta, Jimmy Knepper, Bobby Watson, Victor Lewis, Arfang Kouyate, Julius Farmer, Sonny Taylor and Baden Powell, among others. In 1984, he produced Afrosamba and in 1990 he formed a duo with the Italian pianist Franco D’ Andrea with whom he recorded Enrosandira for Red Records from Italy. He lived in Chile, where he played with many musicians and gained knowledge in Latin-American rhythms. In 1998 he settled in Italy where he continued his activity till 2009. In that same year he decided to settle back in Argentina.
