Minino Garay & Los Tambores del Sur 's biography
Biography
Percussionist Minino Garay was born in Córdoba, Argentina, but has been living in France for twenty years now, where he has developed a great professional career performing music that blends the rhythms of his homeland with those of Africa. He has collaborated with Magic Malik, Julien Lourau Groove Gang, Richard Bona and Daniel Mille and formed his band Los Tambores del Sur, which draws on rhythms of African peoples such as the Bantu. As part of Dee Dee Bridgewater’s backing band, he has traveled across Africa and specially explored the rhythms of Mali. He has played at the Festival Gnawa in Essaouira (Morroco). The trip enabled him to meet and accompany pianist and singer Cheick Tidiane Seck, among many other musicians. In this edition of the Buenos Aires Jazz, Minino Garay will appear with Esteban Gutiérrez (percussion and vocals), Diego Bravo (bass, percussion and vocals), Álvaro Torres (piano), Richard Nant (trumpet and percussion) and Zurdo Castagno (guitar and vocals).
