Biography

Argentos was created in New York City in 1996 and reinvented itself in 2003, in Buenos Aires. Throughout its fifteen-year existence, the band has featured Matt Pavolka, Jeff Ballard, Guillermo Klein, Oscar Feldman, Diego Urcola, Yusuke Yamamoto, Ariel Naón, Pablo Rodríguez, Gustavo Musso, Daniel Piazzolla and Martín Pantyrer. Argentos is now made up of Carto Brandán, Ramiro Flores, Álvaro Torres, Matías Méndez and Alan Plachta.

Its founder and director, trumpeter Richard Nant, was born in Córdoba in 1964. He studied at Berklee. He has played in Mariano Tito Big Band, Américo Belloto Big Band, Orquesta de Música Latinoamericana directed by Pancho Nolé and Lapouble, Ziegler y Asociados ensemble, among others. He appeared in La jaula de las locas, Cabaret, Hair, Chicago and recorded with Charly García, David Lebon, Fito Páez, Los Pericos, Los Ratones Paranoicos, Fontova, Los Enanitos Verdes, Soda Stereo, Rubén Rada, Los Auténticos Decadentes and international musicians such as Armando Manzanero, Deep Purple, Olga Guillot and Becerra Da Silva. He performed with the band led by Puerto Rican percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo at festivals like Heineken Jazz Festival of Puerto Rico. He also played in Nuyorican Soul, with George Benson and Tito Puente. Los Argentos, Manifestando and Vetas are the albums he released with Argentos.
