Suricato

Biography

Suricato is a Colombian group of popular music featuring double bass, guitar, trombone and vocals. With gentle voices or abrupt sounds, fanciful or realistic lyrics, mellow or powerful trombones, razor-sharp or elastic guitars, steady or galloping grooves, this band proves to be unafraid of bold experimentation or sweet moderation. Suricato is made up of double bass player Kike Harker trombonist Carlo Mascolo, drummer Jorge Sepúlveda, guitarist Kike Mendoza, a bridge between Argentine and Colombian musicians, who has recorded Todos somos de la casa, Contra viento y marea, Un lugar, and Gamín, which features the musicians who played in his quintet in Buenos Aires; and Colombian folk-jazz-funk vocalist María Mónica Gutiérrez, who is a member of Visconverso and has sung with the sextet led by Colombian percussionist Samuel Torres.
