Biography
Pianist Manuel Fraga was born in Buenos Aires in 1958. He studied jazz and improvisation with Carlos Balmaceda, and harmony, composition, form and musical analysis with Manolo Juárez. A classically trained pianist, he has a masterful command of a wide range of jazz styles, from stride, swing, boogie-woogie and blues all the way up to Afro-Latin tumbaos. He has received many awards: Prensario (1979); Best Pianist, by the Sacramento Jazz Festival in California (1984); in addition to local awards such as ACE (1993) and Konex (1995).
