Synopsis
The complete footage of Charles Mingus Quintet’s concert at the traditional Swizz festival. The first hour is dedicated to the material from his double-LP Changes, notably featuring the histrionic George Adams on tenor sax. Then, the baritone sax of the fondly remembered Gerry Mulligan and the trumpet of Benny Bailey join in to play delicious versions of “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat” and Ellington’s “Take the ‘A’ Train.”
