Pedro Chemes Cuarteto's biography

Pedro Chemes directed the “cuarteto de la ochava” between 1987 and 1994. With this quartet, he approached the repertoire of the guardia vieja. This group was distinguished with the Golden Gardel for best popular music group in 1990 and awarded at the Young Art Biennial of the Buenos Aires City government in 1991. Between 1996 and 2004 he performed with Pedro Chemes quartet and interpreted a repertoire of traditional and contemporary tango. Right now, his career as interpreter combines with his career as composer through pieces of strong tango identity and a flavor of his own. His quartet is formed by the violinist Mariana Gaitan , the double bass player Fabián Guerrero, the concertina player Javier Sánchez and the very own Chemes playing the guitar, composing and directing.
