Oliver Manoury - Sergio Gruz

Based in Paris, this duo formed by the French concertina player Olivier Manoury and the Argentinean pianist Sergio Gruz presents the concert Free Tango. The proposal is to play with the technique of musical improvisation, without predetermined tonality or harmony, inspired by what each work suggests to them. To achieve this, the two musicians have an extensive tango background. Manoury , during his three decades of career, formed groups such as Tangoneón and Tempo di Tango. In addition, he participated in several projects, among which his work as composer and interpreter of ballet music in Che, Quijote y bandoneón by Maurice Béjart is worth mentioning. In turn, Gruz wrote music for films, theater and contemporary dance, in addition to working on folklore and jazz. They are joined by a remarkable fact in their artistic background: they worked in the legendary Parisian tango club Trottoirs de Buenos Aires, founded in 1981, which promoted the revitalization of tango in France.
