Noche Salgán's biography

Noche Salgán

Formed in 1960, the Royal Quintet was known from the beginnings because of its musicians` exceptional level and because of Maestro Horacio Salgán`s arrangements and musical direction. With a unique rhythmic sense and emphasizing the performers` virtuosity, the band was able to overcome difficult times regarding tango and achieved great repercussion touring Japan and Argentina. In 2003, when Horacio Salgán decided to retire after 73 years of work, he presented his son César Salgán as his successor in the piano. Nowadays, the New Royal Quintet is still performing and it is formed by Esteban Falabella (guitar), Julio Peressini (violin), Carlos Corrales (concertina) and Juan Pablo Navarro (double bass), apart from César Salgán. With the support of Salgán (father) in historic arrangements, the band is carrying out special activities in order to celebrate 50 years after its creation. Being part of this celebration the Buenos Aires City Tango Orchestra will be performing under direction of Maestro Néstor Marconi and the founders of the Royal Quintet, Horacio Salgán and Ubaldo De Lío, will be playing in the closure concert so as to end on a high note.
