Noche Rovira's biography

Noche Rovira

Among the activities that the Dance World Cup and Festival carries out for the recovery of work and scores of fundamental musicians, a concert will be dedicated to the musician Eduardo Rovira. Bandoneón player, arranger and composer, he began in the heart of the typical orchestra to later move away from traditional forms and become a follower of the tango vanguardism of the sixties, creating a stylistic line different to Astor Piazzolla. In this sense, Rovira’s contribution was fundamental: it refers to tango language as well as to classical music in an incessant dialogue. Incredibly, until today, his rich and complex work is not well known. The concert opens with the Trío Esquina led by the bandoneón player César Stroscio, who knew Rovira very well and dedicated a whole album (Azul y vos) to his work. After the opening comes the reconstruction of the quartet and the septet from the scores that the family lent and the transcription of his tangos. The pianist and composer Nicolás Guerschberg was in charge of the direction and transcription. The repertoire includes “A Luis Luchi”, “Tristango”, “Que lo paren”, “Milonga para Mabel y Peluca”, “Sanateando”, “Policromía”, “Serial dodecafónico”, “Preludio de la guitarra abandonada”, “Majó Majú” and “A Don Pedro Santillán”.
