Proyecto Pandora's biography

Proyecto Pandora

The origins of Proyecto Pandora go back to 1998, when Francisco Kröpfl, musical director of the Recoleta Cultural Center back then, conceived the creation of a concert that combined tango and electro-acoustic music. He specifically thought about Gustavo Beytelmann´s tangos, which carry this genre to the brink of contemporary music. Javier Leichman made the arrangements and used electro-acoustic procedures. From this mixture emerged the show Tango, otra mirada that premiered in 1999, went to France and returned to Buenos Aires in 2003. Leichman later continued along the same path with a new challenge that will be presented at the Festival: a bridge between the two musical languages. Sometimes, the songs include tango in the framework of the electro-acoustic and sometimes is the other way around. The concertina player Eva Wolff, the pianist Hernán Possetti, the double bassist Daniel Falasca and the keyboardist Bruno Mesz will premiere a series of pieces written by Javier Leichman, such as “Latente y manifiesto”, “La otra mirada”, “Tic tac”, “Con pelos y señales”, “Se fueron” and “Tren al sur”.
