Toward the end of the year 2009, the National Congress approved the law for the regime of protection and promotion of the concertina. Among its points, the text provides protection for the instruments whose antiquity exceeds 40 years, the creation of the National Registry of Concertinas for the quantification of the existing instruments in the country and the prohibition of the departure of the registered bellows, except for artistic tours. In its foundations, the measure -still in its regulation state– tries to avoid the sale of concertinas abroad and promotes, as its ultimate goal, the domestic manufacturing of the concertina.
