JUAN JOSÉ MOSALINI QUINTETO's biography

JUAN JOSÉ MOSALINI QUINTETO

This quintet started out as a tribute to Astor Piazzolla, reproducing the format that suit the Mar del Plata-born musician best. Its creator, Juan José Mosalini, bandoneon player who has been teaching the art of the bellows for decades in France, had chosen the unforgettable violinist Antonio Agri—original member of that virtuous group—to join him in this adventure. Agri left this world in 1998, but fortunately their encounter was recorded on an album. In the prologue, Eladia Blázquez assures that “Mosalini and Agri make us feel that technique, when combined with sensitivity, brings the soul to its fullness.” The bandoneon player performed the album again in the 2008 edition of the Festival and following concerts throughout the last three years. Today he repeats the experience, accompanied by Cristian Zárate (piano), Pablo Agri (violin), Leonardo Sánchez (guitar) and Juan Pablo Navarro (double bass).
