ORQUESTA ASTILLERO's biography

ORQUESTA ASTILLERO

In 2005, the Orquesta Astillero was founded with the idea of composing new music. Since then, satisfying the premise, the group records three albums featuring tango songs and instrumental pieces that reflect the present of the 21st century. Gaining immediate international acclaim, the orchestra begins traveling around the world and performing in countries like Hungary and Bulgaria and at prestigious music events such as Montreal’s Jazz Festival and the Dutch North Sea Jazz Festival. Last April, it went on tour around Europe for the tenth time. Astillero is composed of Julián Peralta (piano), Martijn van der Linden (violin), Luciano Falcón (cello), Adolfo Trepiana and Mariano González Calo (bandoneon), Federico Maiocchi (double bass) and Miguel Suárez (vocals). The concerts are enriched with the audiovisual work by Alejandro Diez.

TEATRO ORLANDO GOÑI

With the Escuela de Tango Orlando Goñi, Julián Peralta is also committed to education. Since 2006, the bandleader of Astillero is the president of this center for the development of the Río de la Plata Tango and culture. The school offers instrument, composition, arrangement and orchestration classes, in addition to teaching, in his own words, “how to carry out and maintain a musical project.”
