Biography / Synopsis
OMAR GIAMMARCO's biography
From his first album, Por estos barrios (2001), musician and singer Omar Giammarco worked with neighboring genres of tango like milonga and candombe, always focusing on a vast musical territory connecting the city of Buenos Aires with the littoral, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, and the south of Brazil. Accompanied by guest musicians like Kevin Johansen, León Gieco and Arthur de Faría, in his new album, Luz mala, he goes further, exploring Argentine folk, Balkan and rock music, although, despite the mix of atmospheres and rhythms, the album has a definitely local sound. The ensemble led by Omar (guitar and vocals) is composed of Mariana Cañardo (violin and metallophone), Julio Locatelli (accordion), Mariano Martos (electric bass), Marcelo Frezia (drums), Luis Díaz Muñiz (percussion), Alejandro Nuin (flute), Diego Settón (electric guitar and backing vocals) and Pablo Giammarco (backing vocals).
