Biography / Synopsis
QUINTETO NEGRO LA BOCA's biography
“I wait for you in the corner/ of Suárez and Necochea,” wrote Enrique Cadícamo in “Tres amigos.” A mythology about the humble origins of the genre emerged from La Boca’s squalid port coffee shops, and more than a century later, the aura of Tango is still present in current ensembles like Quinteto Negro La Boca. With one album released, Tango contaminado, and another on the way, Tangos libertarios (lyrics by Osvaldo Bayer), the group plays a repertoire of tango, waltz, milonga and chacarera music. As a promoter of the Festival de Tango de la República de La Boca, the quintet aims to acknowledge the cultural heritage of the neighborhood. It is composed of Pablo Bernaba and Daniel Arbos (bandoneons), Maximiliano Larrea (guitar), Lucas Pereira (double bass) and Patricia Szilágyi (piano), and will be performing with singers Hernán Fernández and Alejandro Guyot.
