CARDENAL DOMÍNGUEZ's biography

Cardenal Domínguez belongs to a generation of singers who broke into the tango scene in the 1990s, at a historical time of rediscovery of the genre. “When I started, people gave me a weird look whenever I said I was a tango singer. They thought I was a nerd who was born in a phonograph,” recalls Cardenal. By now, he has released three albums, performed nationally and toured abroad. With a rural- and urban-based repertoire and a national reputation as a singer, following the footsteps of icons like Carlos Gardel and Edmundo Rivero, he will perform a selection of tango, waltz, milonga and other songs accompanied by guitarist Hernán Reinaudo. Several guest musicians will also join in. “Today they don’t give us weird looks any more because we have overcome prejudice and proven that there are other forms,” asserts Domínguez.
