La Murguera (uruguay)'s biography

A cold winter day in 1995 at Montevideo’s Club Onda, to be more exactly, was the setting for the first gathering of this group, which is today one of the most renowned of the murga scene. On November 20th, same year, they made their debut in the show De igual a igual, aired on channel 4 Montecarlo. After several changes in their line-up, which featured the inclusion of Pucho Ferreira, this murga group reached into the heart of people. They have delivered over 500 performances in Uruguay and the rest of the world, including the cities of Miami, New York, New Jersey, Toronto, Montreal and Caracas, among many others. In this occasion, they will play a majority of tango songs in a murga style, with their distinctive wardrobe and stage performance, making evident the combination of genres, which spontaneously occurs in diverse artistic expressions of the Rio de la Plata area.
