CARLOS COPELLO's biography

CARLOS COPELLO

A dancer of humble origins, he became one of the major stage figures of his generation, which, in the 90s, promoted the return to the essence of the social dance as the basis for theater dance. He made his foray into salon tango guided by famous milonga dancers such as Miguel Balmaceda and Nelly, Antonio Todaro, Gerardo Portalea and Pepito Avellaneda. The debut in the Casa Blanca tango club sets the beginning of a career together with the most prestigious companies: Forever Tango, Tango Pasión and Tango x2, of which he was part throughout the last three productions. He also danced in the last Broadway remake of the legendary Tango Argentino. In film, he participated in international productions: La lección de tango (directed by Sally Potter) and Happy Together (directed by Wong Kar-Wai). In 2004 he opened, in the Abasto neighborhood, his school Tango Escuela Carlos Copello.
