Sergio Wolf

He was born in Buenos Aires. He is a critic, teacher, cinematographic producer and a Bachelor in Communication (University of Buenos Aires).

He is Associate Professor of Scripts IV and Documentary scripts in the Master of Script and Documentary at the Universidad del Cine. He has been Professor at Universidad de Buenos Aires, and given courses in Spain and Cuba. He has been jury at international festivals in Los Angeles, Guijon, Montreal, Gramado and Valdivia.

He is the author of the books Cine argentinoLa otra historia (Letra Buena, 1992) and Nuevo cine argentino (Tatanka 2004), and of Cine/Literatura. Ritos de pasaje (Paidós, 2001). He is coauthor of the booksKino Argentyninskie (1896-2006), (Era Nowe Horizonty Film Festival Wroclaw, Polond, 2006), La propia voz: el cine sonoro de Lucrecia Martel (Gijon International Film Festival, 2008), Historias extraordinarias – Nuevo cine argentino (Las Palmas International Film Festival, 2009) and Take 100 – The Future of Film, 100 New Directors (Phaidon, 2010).

He wrote Zapada’s and La felicidad –un día de campo–’s cinematographic scripts, both films by Raúl Perrone, as well as the scripts for Extranjera, by Intés de Oliveira and for the films Encarnación and Por tu culpa, by Anahí Berneri.

He directed the feature length documentary Yo no sé qué me han hecho tus ojos (2003), together with Lorena Muñoz, and he also co-directed the documentary trilogy Ritos de frontera (2002) with Alejo Taube. As a director he also made the short length documentary Los destiladores de naranjas (2004) and his second full length documentary, Las orillas (2007/8). He is currently working on his new feature film, El color que cayó del cielo.

He was Coordinator in Films at Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas from 2003 to 2008. He worked as programmer in Bafici from 2005 to 2007, the festival where he has been the Artistic Director since 2008.
