2011 BAL Awards

The 13th Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Film (BAFICI) announces the awards of the 8th edition of the Buenos Aires Lab (BAL).

The Jury of this edition was composed of Andrés Di Tella, Marta Andreu, and Vincenzo Bugno.

The awards selected for the 8th edition of the BAL in the “Co-Production Meetings” and “Work in Progress” (WIP) sections were as follows:

CO-PRODUCTION MEETINGS AWARDS

ARTE Award

The European cultural network ARTE awarded the International Relations Prize of 5,000 Euros to the project Sombie by Santiago Fillol, produced by Oriol Maymó.

Cinecolor and Kodak Award

Cinecolor and Kodak awarded two prizes.

Second prize consists of developing services and one-light transfer of ten (10) 35mm film cans, unexposed film provided by Kodak Argentina. To the project: Los hongos by Oscar Ruiz Navia, produced by Diana Bustamante.

First prize consists of developing services and one-light transfer of fifteen (15) 35mm film cans, unexposed film provided by Kodak Argentina. To the project: El primero de la familia by Carlos Leiva, produced by Dominga Sotomayor and Benjamín Domenech.

FIDMarseille - FIDLab Award

A project will be invited to participate in the next edition of the FIDLab. To the project: La guerra submarina by Alejo Moguillansky, produced by Iván Granovsky.

Binger Filmlab Award

Binger Filmlab granted the “Binger Bal Development Award” to one of BAL’s selected projects. The prize consists of two script development sessions with a script consultant provided by Binger. To the project: A memória é o músculo da imaginação by Flavia Castro, produced by Gisela Camara.

CPH:DOX- CPH:LAB Award

CPH:DOX will invite a participant of “Co-Production Meetings” to take part in the next edition DOX:LAB. To: Iván Fund.

WORK IN PROGRESS AWARDS

Mantarraya Award

Mantarraya awarded a distribution prize in the territory of Mexico to the project: De jueves a domingo by Dominga Sotomayor, produced by Benjamín Domenech.

NCP-Holland Award

NCP-Holland awarded the subtitling service of a single copy to the project: De jueves a domingo by Dominga Sotomayor, produced by Benjamín Domenech.

Ñandú Studio Award

Ñandú Studio awarded up to 80 hours of audio post-production at its facilities (including use of rooms and necessary equipment as well as support by qualified operators). To the project: El ojo del tiburón by Alejo Hoijman, produced by Gema Juárez Allen.

Lahaye Award

Lahaye awarded a prize consisting of either of these options:

  • Cinealta HD Camera equipment for twenty (20) full-day sessions, or
  • One 8-hour session in the editing room plus 6 hours of color correction.

To the project: Aurora by Nele Wohlatz, produced by Gerardo Naumann.

Tauro Digital Award

Tauro Digital awarded a prize of 96 hours of post-production services organized as follows:

  • 80 hours of sound editing.
  • 16 hours of sound mixing.

Sinsistema Award

Sinsistema awarded a prize consisting of digital laboratory services and online 4K post-production for a feature film of up to 120 minutes. To the project: El ojo del tiburón by Alejo Hoijman, produced Gema Juárez Allen.
