Gary Burns

Bio

Born in Alberta, Canada, in 1960, he studied dramatic arts at the University of Calgary and fine arts at Concordia University. He has made five feature films: The Suburbanators (1995), Kitchen Party (1997; winner of Best New Director at Vancouver Film Festival), Waydowntown (2000; winner of Best Canadian Feature Film at Toronto Film Festival), A Problem with Fear (2003), Radiant City (2006; shown at BAFICI 2007 and winner of the Special Jury Prize at Vancouver) and The Future Is Now! (2010), the latter two co-directed with Jim Brown. All of them are shown in the retrospective of this year’s BAFICI.
