Synopsis
Marie Louise Edith Magdalena de Alemann is better known as Marie-Louise Alemann among the people connected to art and experimental cinema in Argentina. The name might not ring a bell to the rest, even when if work includes collaborations with Raymundo Gleyzer and happenings using human bones. As she explains to the camera herself in this film, the figure featured in butoh dance is known for its mystery. It’s someone unknown who comes into a new place, and you need some time to slowly discover who that is. That time is what Constanza Sanz Palacios’ first film builds and handles with precision in order to reveal Maria-Louise’s human and artistic figure and accompany her in her artistic experiences. Marie-Louise’s life is presented as a meditation on the passing of time, sharing her doubts and all she has learned over the years. Like two mirrors facing each other that produce infinity right in that spot, Butoh puts an artist in front of a camera lens, and obtains a hypnotic and fantastic effect. LL
