Synopsis
According to the legend, the Supreme Geek Pontiff that is Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, among other treasures of ComicCon, and of humanity, even if mankind hasn’t realized yet) usually mutates his XL fanaticism for Shakespeare into hedonist-spirited evenings in which he and his actors stage plays such as this now-turned-into-film Much Ado About Nothing. While editing Marvel’s billion-dollar toy store (The Avengers, his childhood dream), the happy but exhausted Whedon embraced his Much Ado About Nothing: shot in a house with friends (Clark “Agent Coulson” Gregg, Nathan “Captain Malcolm” Fillion) and almost secretly, in black and white, and with the irony and devotion needed to transmit that domestic energy, passion, and heresy –well, we should point out that it’s Whedon’s home, so: this energy is absolutely unique–, this is no Superhero Blockbuster versus Indie Craftmanship, an opposition Whedon hates. This is just the palpable, quirky, and excited joy of someone who needed to fall a little more in love with Shakespeare, his friends, the Avengers, and cinema. And did it. JMD
