AVANT-GARDE DANCE FROM BRAZIL
The Sao Paulo Companhia de Dança will stage the choreographic pieces “Gnawa”, “Sechs Tänze” and “Prélude à l’aprés-midi d’un faune” tonight ant tomorrow, Sunday, at 9 p.m. at Teatro Presidente Alvear. Tickets for both shows, starting at 30 pesos, are on sale on this website, or can be purchased in person at Teatro San Martín (Av. Corrientes 1530), today and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the creations by Nacho Duato and Jiri Kylián, two of the world’s major choreographers, true highlights of the Festival program. The pieces – combining sounds from Spain and the north of Africa, music by Debussy and Mozart, inspirations in Nijinsky, the Mediterranean culture, Greek art and Mozart’s humor – are staged by a company created in 2008 by Sao Paulo Government’s Secretary of State for Culture and directed by acclaimed Brazilian artists Iracity Cardoso and Inês Bogéa.
