ANSWERS IN THE FACE OF CRISIS
The prestigious Italian company Motus will present Alexis, una tragedia greca, today, Saturday, at 8 p.m. at Teatro Regio. This documentary-theatrical piece includes testimonies and documents about a real event – the death of Alexandros Andreas Grigoropoulos (Alexis), a young 15-year-old protester murdered by the Greek police at a demonstration in December 2008 – and dialogues from Bertolt Brecht’s Antigone. Remaining tickets, at very affordable prices (starting at 30 pesos), are on sale on this website or at Teatro San Martín (Av. Corrientes 1530), from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tomorrow, Sunday, there will be another performance at the same place and time – with tickets available for purchase.
The main question of the play – How to turn outrage into action? – finds an answer in the different layers of representation that the piece displays. “The topic of crisis is currently very strong in Europe, and here in South America is already well known. Our reflection is that artists learn from these contexts: we can act, create and raise new ideas,” stated directors Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande upon their arrival in Buenos Aires.
