POLESCH: PLAY AND TALK

POLESCH: OBRA Y PALABRAS

Tonight’s performance at 8 p.m. of Ich schau dir in die Augen, gesellschaftlicher Verblendungszusammenhang! (I look into your eyes, social context of deception!), at the Teatro Presidente Alvear, offers an attractive bonus after the show: its playwright, René Pollesch, and the lead actor, Fabian Hinrichs, will talk with the audience, with theater researcher and teacher Federico Irazábal serving as moderator. And tomorrow, Sunday, the play will be performed for the last time, at 5 p.m. Tickets are still available for both presentations: the price starting at 30 pesos, tickets can be purchased on this website or in person at Teatro San Martín (Av. Corrientes 1530), from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Polesch’s participation at the Festival is of utmost value: he is one of the world’s most important contemporary playwrights. He studied Applied Theater Science in Giessen between 1983 and 1989, with Andrzej Wirth and Hans-Thies Lehmann. He has worked on projects with guest teachers Heiner Müller, George Tabori, John Jesurun, and others. In 1996 he received a working scholarship at the Royal Court Theatre in London, with seminars conducted by Harold Pinter, Caryl Churchill, and others. In the 1999/2000 season, he was an in-house writer for the Luzerner Theater; in the fall of 2000, for the Deutsches Schauspielhaus. Since the 2001/2002 season, he has been the artistic producer of the Prater at the Volksbühne am Rosa Luxemburg Platz in Berlin.
