Néstor Astarita & Buenos Aires Jazz Fusión

This band has been up and running since 1981, led by drummer Néstor Astarita and featuring Alejandro Kalinoski, Bucky Arcella, Pocho Porteño, María Isabel Flores, and the special contribution of renowned saxophonist and flautist Bernardo Baraj.

In the year of their formation they released an album together with Rubén Rada, Litto Nebbia, Dino Saluzzi, Baby López Fürst, Bernardo Baraj, Fats Fernández and others. They have ever since appeared in several festivals and clubs in Buenos Aires and the rest of the country. In 1998 came their second album. Néstor Astarita is a musician of a vast and famous career, and has taken part in countless jam sessions alongside the masters of the genre.

He founded the legendary club Jazz & Pop with Jorge “Negro” González. Bernardo Baraj also boasts years of prestigious career in the Argentine popular music, ever since his beginnings at the emblematic Cueva de Pueyrredón, a starting point for the Argentine rock. He had the pleasure of performing with personalities like Sandro, Rodolfo Alchourron, Litto Nebbia, the Color Humano band, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Dino Saluzzi, Rubén Rada and Jorge Navarro. Baraj joined guitarist Juan Barrueco on a duo which has bridged the gap between tango and jazz, giving birth to two albums.
