Oscar Feldman

An Argentine saxophonist and composer settled in New York, Oscar Feldman has performed and recorded with remarkable artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Al Di Meola, Alex Acuña, Jeff “Tain” Watts and Eumir Deodato at such prestigious venues as the Vienna Opera, the Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Town Hall in Nueva York, the Parc La Villette in Paris and the Blue Note, as well as at myriad jazz festivals. In Argentina he performed with Dino Saluzzi and recorded with many artists, including Fito Páez, Litto Nebbia and Leo Sujatovich. He did Professional Music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated cum laude in 1994. He has made extensive international tours as first alto saxophonist with the Dizzy Gillespie United Nations Orchestra and also with well-known producer and arranger Eumir Deodato. In 2000 he recorded the album The Grande Passion alongside legendary guitarist Al Di Meola, and in 1999 he recorded Paquito D’Rivera’s Tropicana Nights, which garnered a Latin Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album. Simultaneously, he carries out an intense activity as the leader of his quintet in New York, appearing at renowned venues like the Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, Birdland and Smalls. His first solo album, El ángel (Songosaurus, 2000) was greeted with great praise by the specialised press. He worked on the music for the film Lust, Caution (2007) by famed Oscar-winner filmmaker Ang Lee. His second album, Oscar e Familia, recorded in the United States (Sunnyside Records, 2009), features the collaboration of drummer Antonio Sánchez and saxophonist Mark Turner, arrangements for string by Carlos Franzetti and material specially written for the album by legendary composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal, as well as the special participation of Luis Alberto Spinetta.
