JERÓNIMO CARMONA

Jerónimo Carmona is, most probably, the most sought-after and active double bass player of the Porteño jazz circuit. He was born in 1978 Zárate, in the province of Buenos Aires, where he studied harmony and electric bass. Once in the city of Buenos Aires, he went on to study at the Instituto Tecnológico de Música Contemporánea (ITMC), later to devote entirely to playing the double bass. Jerónimo has toured different cities in Argentina and Latin America, Europe and the United States. He is currently involved in the projects of Marcelo Gutfraind, Fernando Tarrés, Luis Nacht, Patricio Carpossi, Hernán Jacinto, Paula Shocron, Delfina Oliver and Rodrigo Domínguez, to name just a few. He has also collaborated with many other artists, including Guillermo Bazzola, Mariana Baraj, Eloy Michelini, Ernesto Jodos, Pepi Taveira, Pablo Bobrowicky, Ricardo Cavalli, Guillermo Romero, Miguel Tarzia, Juan Pablo Arredondo, Gustavo Bergalli, Fats Fernández, Ligia Piro, Carlos Franzetti, Walter Malosetti and Juan Lázaro Mendolas. He has shared the stage with international artists Antonio Arnedo, Donny McCaslin, Lucía Pulido, Matt McDonald, Michael Jefrey Stevens, John Stowell, Lalo Schifrin, Rick Zunigar, and Billy Harper and Perico Sambeat in the Festival’s previous edition. He teaches privately and at different music schools.
