LÓPEZ RUIZ - FRAGA - BOCO TRÍO

With a repertoire of traditional jazz standards, this trio is based on the deep expertise and unquestionable competence of two of its members, and the fresh, youthful style of its drummer, Germán Boco.
Versatile and accurate, Manuel Fraga is among the pianists who best command all the styles of the piano jazz, from stride, swing and blues all the way up to Afro-Latin tumbaos. Throughout his career he has received many local awards, including the Prensario (1979), ACE (1993) and Konex (1994).
Jorge López Ruiz is one of the key figures in the creation and enhancement of the local scene from its very beginnings. He has performed with Leandro ?Gato? Barbieri, Jorge Navarro, Baby López Fürst, Horacio ?Chivo? Borraro and many others. His vast career features over a dozen albums recorded in Argentina and New York, and countless soundtracks for films and plays. Doctor of Music from Columbia Pacific University in San Francisco and Doctor Honoris Causa from The London Institute for Applied Research, Jorge López Ruiz is also a well-known talented record producer.
In addition to playing the drums, Germán Boco composes and plays the piano, which certainly has helped him shape a very personal style.
Since its creation in 2004, the trio has developed a wide-ranging, innovative style, strongly related to the all-time classics: blues, swing, bebop and even Latin jazz. Their repertoire features works of great composers like George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Richard Rodgers and Charlie Parker, as well as pieces of their own. They are one of the few ensembles made up of musicians from different generations, and this fact accounts for their very particular sound.
