MACHLINE & HERRERA CON LUIS CERÁVOLO

For seven years, Machline and Herrera (together with the recently late Pocho Lapouble) formed the trio Machline-Herrera-Lapouble. They were noted for keeping the language of the standard trio and the amalgam of Machline and Lapouble’s classic sound. The influence of Herrera’s fusion and rock gave it a very personal sound, which stands out in the two albums they have released to date.
Machline boasts an extensive career including performances with Rodolfo Alchourrón, Jorge Anders and the Santa María Jazz Band, Gustavo Bergalli, Andrés Boiarsky, a piano duo with Jorge Navarro, and many other artists.
He has shared the stage in jam sessions and concerts with many international musicians who came to Argentina with the orchestras of Ellington, Basie and Ray Charles. And he also played with the rhythm sections of Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans. He has two albums under his belt, recorded with the Trío M3 alongside Javier Malosetti and Norberto Minichilo.
Alejandro Herrera is one of the most in-demand electric bassist of the local scene. He played for two years in the band Al Di Meola and shared the stage with remarkable local musicians such as Baby López Fürst, Lito Epumer, Horacio Larumbe, Rubén Rada, Walter Malosetti, Fats Fernández, Gustavo Bergalli, Jorge Navarro, Hugo Fattoruso, Pino Marrone and others. He released one quintet album as a leader: Minority Report, recorded in Argentina and France.
Over the span of his vast career, Luis Cerávolo played the drums in the legendary ensemble La Banda, in Astor Piazzolla’s octet, in Luis A. Spinetta’s band, for Baby López Fürst, Jim Hall, Lalo Schifrin, Manolo Juárez, Oscar Cardozo Ocampo, Jorge Navarro and Ariel Ramírez, among others. In July 2005 he took part in a seminar on the fusion of Tango, Argentine Folklore, Candombe and Jazz, held at the University of Colmenarejo, in Madrid. In 2008 he formed the Sexteto Luis Cerávolo, featuring a repertoire of standards of jazz, tango and Argentine folklore, with original arrangements and compositions of their own.
