Richard Nant

Born in the city of Córdoba in 1964, at age 19 Richard Nant moved to Buenos Aires and studied trumpet with Roberto “Fats” Fernández and composition with Pedro Aguilar. In the 1980s he performed with numerous rock and jazz musicians, including Charly García, David Lebon, Fito Páez, Soda Stereo, Mariano Tito, Américo Belloto and Ziegler - Lapouble y Asociados. In 1991 he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music, where he majored in Jazz Composition. In Boston he was a member of Giovanni Hidalgo’s ensembles and Guillermo Klein’s Big Bang.
He lived for four years in New York, where he took trumpet lessons with Víctor Paz and performed with such renowned jazz ensembles as Timbalaye alongside Ralph Irizarry, the Magalí Souriaou Big Band and Los Guachos, the band of Guillermo Klein, with whom he founded the still active Argentos. Back in Buenos Aires, in 2000, he became a member of the bands Complicó Batá, Jorge Navarro’s Big Band and Latinaje. He is currently involved in many projects, including the Nicolás Sorín Octeto and Bomba de Tiempo.
