 HDV Trío's biography

The Austrian trio HDV, formed by David Helbock (piano), Lucas Dietrich (double-bass) and Marc Vogel (drums) was created in 2005 and attained international renown when they won the German contest New Generation. Their recording debut was Celebrating Modern Genius, followed by All in. In both works, jazz influences and contemporary and classical musical literature combine to give place to a new and personal language. Both albums were edited by the German label Doublemoon. During the last few years, the trio toured Africa, Indonesia, Central America and South America.
David Helbock, leader and main composer of the group, has six albums as a solo artist and has taken classes with teachers as renowned as Kenny Werner, Bobo Stenson, George Garzone and Enrico Pieranunzi. He obtained second place for Piano Soloist Best Performance at the Montreux Festival (2007,) among other prizes.
