Javier Vercher

The tenor sax player Javier Vercher was born in Madrid, but he settled in Valencia, where he graduated as clarinetist. Once he dedicated to sax and jazz, he studied with Rosenwinkel, Chris Cheek, Jorge Pardo and Perico Sambeat, among others. Then, he entered Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he graduated; there he studied with Billy Hart and was very influenced by him. He is recognized as a great artist, with a great knowledge of the tradition, but at the same time he has also recorded and toured with the singer Alejandro Sanz. His last record, Wish you were here, counts with the collaboration of the guitarist Lionel Loueke and the double-bass player Larry Grenadier.
