Special Projects

The Trastienda Club, the Festival’s traditional venue, is the designated place to showcase the special projects and commissions involving a variety of Argentine musicians, during this edition of the BAJ. Some of the events include live performances of new albums – by trumpeter Mariano Loiácono and drummer Hernán Mandelman – and the Concert by the Colectivo Ensamble Real Book Argentina – a project led by Esteban Sehinkman to encourage the exchange of local music between its musicians. Also, trumpeter Juan Cruz de Urquiza will present his work based on Charly García’s music – commissioned by the artistic direction of the Festival Internacional Buenos Aires Jazz. And the Manuel de Falla Conservatory’s Big Band will not only perform the music by the legendary Charles Tolliver, but they will do it under his direction.
