Ensamble Real Book Argentina

Biography

The Real Book Argentina is a project aimed at compiling and sharing the music written by diverse composers who fall within the very broad stylistic borders of Argentine jazz. Hundreds of pages of sheet music, biographies and even a record (Real Book Argentina, volume 1) are available for free download at the website www.realbookargentina.com. The project, an initiative by pianist and composer Esteban Sehinkman, is in tune with one of the Festival’s aims – to encourage the exchange of compositions and arrangements between fully active colleagues. For this reason, the Buenos Aires Jazz 2010 has supported the creation of the Ensamble Real Book, a group put together especially to perform these pieces. The Ensamble Real Book is composed of Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla (drums), Mariano Sívori (bass), Alan Plachta (guitar and arrangements), Diego Schissi (piano and arrangements), Gustavo Musso (tenor sax and clarinet), Bernardo Monk (alto sax, flute and arrangements), Richard Nant (trumpet and flugel), Cirilo Fernández (keyboards and arrangements), Juan “Pollo” Raffo (key-flute and arrangements), Nicolás Sorín (vocals and arrangements), Esteban Sehinkman (keyboards), Guillermo Klein and Daniel Camelo (arrangements). In June 2011, after a series of performances at the Thelonious club, the group recorded their first album, which they will present at this new edition of the Buenos Aires Jazz.
