Biography

The Manuel de Falla Conservatory of Music of the City of Buenos Aires offers a degree program in jazz. The course, directed by pianist and composer Ernesto Jodos, has become a new educational source for musicians, whose creative output enriches and brings a breath of fresh air to the genre.

In 2007, a student-run big band was formed, providing a great teaching/learning environment. The Buenos Aires Jazz offers the band the perfect backdrop, away from the classrooms, to come in contact with professional activity and the musical universe of jazz.

In this edition of the BAJ, the Manuel de Falla Conservatory’s Big Band will perform a repertoire of music by the great Charles Tolliver, one of the legendary figures of jazz, who will direct the ensemble himself.
