Biography
Pianist Francisco Lo Vuolo was born in 1982. In 1998, he won a scholarship to
study at Berklee College of Music, Boston. He also graduated from the Escuela de
Música Contemporánea, Buenos Aires, Argentina (member of the Berklee International
Network), where he received a scholarship to participate at the Havana Festival Jazz
Plaza (Cuba) representing Argentine students. His teachers include Amalia Pérez, Ernesto Jodos, Guillermo Romero, Jorge Molina and Guillermo Klein. He also took
lessons with Marc Copland, Fred Hersch, Jason Moran, Connie Crothers, Kenny Barron, Jean Michel Pilc and Craig Taborn. In 2004, he was awarded Breakthrough Jazz Artist
by Clarín newspaper. He has played with Perico Sambeat, Conrad Herdwig, Paquito
D’Rivera, Enrique Norris, Carlos Lastra, Sebastián Jordán, Mariano Otero, Rodrigo
Domínguez, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Pepi Taveira, Mariano Loiácono, Sergio Verdinelli, Ricardo Cavalli, Horacio Fumero, Oscar Giunta and Gustavo Bergalli, among others. He is a member of the Santa Fe Jazz Ensamble Big Band, Luis Nacht’s trio, the Eloy
Michelini Quinteto - Tribute to Charlie Parker, the Juan Cruz de Urquiza Quinteto -
Tribute to Horace Silver, Eduardo Casalla’s trio, Karol Bayer’s band, Mariano Loiácono’s
quintet and Carlos Lastra’s quartet, among others. Kuchiku (Soul Jazz) is his first album
from 2005. He currently leads a trio that has recently released Vueltas (PAI Records).
