Biography
Tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery was born in London in 1975. He moved to New York in 2000 and has recorded six albums as a leader and two as a co-leader since then. He started his professional career with The Eric Reed Septet. He has played in the Mingus Big Band; Band, Orchestra and Dynasty; Ron Carter’s Great Bigband; Abdulah Ibrahim’s Akaya; The Ben Riley Quartet and Jazz At Lincoln Center’s “Music of the Masters,” a group of bands and performers picked by Wynton Marsalis to pay tribute to the music of Dexter Gordon and Miles Davis. Escoffery has played in Tom Harrell’s quintet since 2006.
