Joel Tortul's biography

Santa Fe-born pianist Joel Tortul is 25 years old, and his musical universe is wide. On his album Punto vivo, which he will perform at the Festival, he plays pieces of his own and by other tango and folklore composers, enriched with elements from classical music, jazz and Latin American rhythms. Something curious about the album is “Malambo de las campanas,” by Horacio Salgán, which had only been recorded once by the author with Dante Amicarelli. In addition, Tortul will perform piano solos of, for instance, Mariano Mores’s “Tanguera,” with an arrangement inspired by classical music composers. His trio is completed by Pablo Rodríguez (drums) and Diego Ferreyra (double bass). Also, the concert will feature guest musicians.
