Six years after its release, the album Conexión Piazzolla-Ferrer (Gardel award winner) continues to appeal to audiences emotionally with its majestic approach to the work of the great songwriting duo. On the album, featuring musical direction by Cristian Zárate, Guillermo Fernández was able to combine some of the partnership’s most iconic creations (“Balada para un loco,” “Chiquilín de Bachín,” “Milonga del Trovador”) with rarely known pieces (“Poema en sí mayor,” “Hay una niña en el alba”), relying on his accurate singing style, which is in full swing in “Oblivion” and “Soledad,” instrumental pieces with lyrics especially written by Ferrer for this album. Today, accompanied by an ensemble directed by Zárate, in addition to a string orchestra, this repertoire will be revived in his timeless voice.
