Synopsis
When Stanislavsky launched his acting method from Russia to the rest of the world, many teachers tried to beat it, either by opposition or radicalization. The wheels were set in motion, and the concepts of emotional memory and physical actions where researched thoroughly for those who were seeking the most effective and pure way to act. We have the legacy of many of these people that remain in theater schools, while others got lost over the years; and then there are those dangerous methods that have distanced themselves from the original theory and have been accused of being cursed, extremist, and dark. During the 70’s, Matteusz Gdula began teaching his own technique. It was meant to help his students shine on the stage, but it had an unforeseen side-effect: it caused a big suicidal wave amongst his students. Surrounded by mystery and fear, the school was abandoned and banned. When Stella –a young student who balanced her lack in talent with lots of ambition– decides to refloat Gdula’s teachings, she falls into some marshy ground from which will be hard to escape from.
