Synopsis
Following the excellent international reception of This Very Moment (2003) and I Am Guilty (2005), Hochhäuser competed for the Golden Palm in Cannes with this disturbing three-sided drama, where he once again uses a sober and relentless grammar that sinks its sharp scalpel into the heart of the Western urban jungle. Svenja accompanies her husband Olli to Frankfurt as he gets ready to start working in a big financial company. There, she randomly meets Roland, an important business man who turns out to be a high ranking executive in her husband’s company. After the death of one of the company’s officials in Indonesia, Roland decides to give Olli the vacant position, thus clearing the way that may lead to Svenja. The lack of scruples in the world of financial power, as well as the primary impulses that lie under those aseptic high spheres, fuel a story that is drawn with a firm hand and milimetric precision.
