Synopsis
In his third film (his previous two were part of the Festival’s International Competitive Section), Zach Weintraub again chooses black-and-white, as he did in Bummer Summer, to build an intimate story that portrays the singularities of a couple and their break-up through exquisite camerawork and great use of sound. Once again, Weintraub plays one of the main characters. In this case, he gets a job as programmer at a cinematheque in another city and moves there with his girlfriend, Justine, who looks for a way to kill time while he seems very enthusiastic about his new job. Gradually, and through thousands of small details and remarkable editing, we find them in different everyday situations, enjoying each other’s company or during their time alone. These will soon show certain cracks on their way to a more adult relationship and life. Even if the title of the film honors a beautiful song, its ending and the melancholy that emerges subtly from it mean that it could also be called You Made Me Feel So Young. VB
