Synopsis

As enigmatic as Lynch’s latest short films, as dazzling as Ossang’s use of black and white, in only ten minutes Carbon builds up the walls of a universe that is disturbing in its simplicity, through a handful of admirably disjointed shots. Water, a feminine face, the wind, bangs and a soaking comb, fire, a night walk: Craig Webster’s protagonist slips through the film and proves –in a clear tribute to the American tradition of psychodrama and trance films of the Forties and Fifties– that reality can be a very, very weird place.
